Project background
The design, documentation and construction of a new two story infants’ education facility within a confined space on the school grounds.
The project required a two stage process:
1: Relocate school student borders into a newly fitted out location;
2: Partially demolish and expand onto three heritage listed houses to build the facility.
The process included managing key considerations such as gutting three heritage listed houses, supporting the existing slate roofs throughout and managing the removal of contaminated soil with limited access and on a “live” site
The new facility accommodates classrooms for 60 – 80 infants, library, reading room, special IT centre, after school care centre, large internal “piazza” creative play area, external and rooftop play facilities
