PROJECT BACKGROUND
To support the growing demand within Victoria, Woolworths has developed this new facility and in a similar agreement with other assets entered into a pre-construction sale agreement with Charter Hall, which will be settled on completion of the facility. This facility is linked via a temperature-controlled Air Bridge to Hilton Meat Plant (Woolworths owned) which will allow for coordinated distribution of meat and fresh produce. The facility is home to a 35,000sqm of temperature-controlled DC and is accompanied by the following satellite buildings:
- Operations office
- Transport Office
- Security office
- Gatehouse
- Trailer Internal Wash
SCOPE OF SERVICES
Gallagher Jeffs was engaged in 2019 to oversee the delivery of the project from head contract finalisation though to commissioning. Key project stakeholders were spread across several states, posing and the latter part of the project was delivered during a pandemic. This created significant challenges to the project team. We addressed this challenge by establishing clear reporting structures, increasing the regularity of communication and utilising technology.
STATUS
Following on the effects of the various outbreaks of COVID19, the delivery programme was fast tracked to achieve hand over 4 weeks early within budget and to Woolworths high quality and safety standards.
