The Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre, located at 2 Kavanagh Street Southbank, is a multi-purpose performance facility providing rehearsal spaces, wardrobe, medical facilities, office accommodation and F&B offerings for the Australian Ballet Company, Australian Ballet School
and Ballet Society.
With the Australian Ballet and Australian Ballet School occupying levels 5 and 6 of the centre, the Redevelopment Project involved an entire overhaul of what was the Ballet Company’s existing facilities. New facilities, completed as part of the redevelopment scope, included a purpose built gym, Pilates studio, physiotherapy treatment facility, recovery/spa room, change rooms, 2No. new rehearsal studios, record and broadcasting room, commercial kitchen, music library along with new office accommodation for over 200 staff.
Gallagher Jeffs were appointed to confirm the consultant team, facilitate the preparation of town planning documentation, manage stakeholder engagement and design development, procure the Head Contractor, drive the staged project delivery and facilitate commissioning as the Project Manager and Superintendent.
The project was complex by nature, given the redevelopment works were performed whilst the
Ballet and other building tenants were in occupation. Through an intricate delivery program that Gallagher Jeffs developed in close consultation with the buildings stakeholders, the project was delivered on time and on budget.
