Project Background
1888 Hotel is located at 139 Murray St, Pyrmont, Sydney. The heritage-listed property, owned and managed by Pyrmont Asset Pty Ltd (Ovolo) was a recent acquisition. Soon after acquiring the property, Pyrmont Asset Pty Ltd undertook a full refurbishment to reflect the companies ‘Ovolo Hotels’ brand.
The refurbishment included a refresh of guest arrival, reception, bar and dining and porte cochere; the soft refurbishment of the hotel’s 98 guestrooms including bathroom F&F and guest corridors; the full refurbishment of suites including full bathroom; lift car refurbishment; new signage and refreshed hotel branding package.

GJ represented Pyrmont Asset (Ovolo) as the Project Manager. Our appointment commenced at the approvals stage, continued through the contractor tender and recommendation phase, and the award of construction contract. We administered all aspects of the contract, overseeing the complete hotel rebranding works, managing a very precise three-stage approach to the room refurbishment programme so as to minimise the disruption to the hotel’s day to day running, and seeing the project through to practical completion.
