Owned by Valad Property Group and operated by Sheraton as the Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa, the resort comprises 176 guest rooms, day spa, bar, restaurant and conferencing facilities. In 2012, Gallagher Jeffs was appointed to lead a refresh of the hotel, both inside and out.
Scope of services
Our role was to develop the scope of refurbishment works into a complete set of project deliverables and to cost effectively manage the works within an operating hotel environment. In the aim of de-risking the project from a budget and buildability point of view, a prototype of the new room design was built, allowing the project stakeholders to experience the space and approve the room design in its final format. The prototyping process also helped the hotel staff understand the scope of the refurbishment and present an expectation of what the hotel was to become. Upon final approval of the prototype, Gallagher Jeffs managed the procurement of long lead time items and formulated a construction staging plan which allowed the refurbishment to be completed with the least possible impact on hotel operations.
The scope of refurbishment works included:
- Full refurbishment of all guestrooms & corridors
- Refurbishment of bar & restaurant
- Refurbishment of porte cochere
- Entry works and repainting of facade
- Upgrade of existing lift
- Replacement of existing chillers & hot water system
At completion, the project was under budget and on programme.
