Gallagher Jeffs are pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Swaney as Chairperson and Non-Executive Director to their board. Renowned for his expertise in strategic leadership, corporate governance, innovation and diversity, he is delighted to join Gallagher Jeffs as they navigate and implement their next phase of growth.

Simon’s career is underpinned by an illustrious 40-year career in design, architecture and senior managerial roles, which includes eight years as the Executive Managing Director of Bates Smart. Celebrated as one of Australia’s longest-standing and most respected architectural firms, Simon served as Project Director for over 60 major projects, notably:

• Tweed Valley Hospital ($780 million);
• Australian Embassy in Washington ($180 million);
• Crown Sydney ($1.3 billion).

As a champion of culture, sustainability and innovation, Simon was also instrumental in:

• Restructuring the board and ownership model, including a succession plan to underwrite the future of the practice;
• Achieving Net Zero Carbon certification;
• Introducing career planning and a transparent promotion system.

Having previously worked with Gallagher Jeffs, Simon is privy to their robust commitment to excellence. He is enthusiastic about collaborating with the directors to strengthen an already strong foundation. Simon mentions, “I’m thrilled to be able to build on the significant contribution of the past chairperson, Murray Winstanley, whose strategic leadership and vision have positioned the company strongly in the market.”
